The Blair Witch Project Movie Poster
This movie scared the absolute crap out of us just over 20 years ago. If you were a frequent cinema goer back in 1999, this wasn’t ever really on your radar until someone suggested it.
“Blair Witch Project? Errr yeah sound, we’ll go see that if you want. What is it, a horror? – Oh right, it’s filmed in the first person on a dodgy shaky camera by amateurs. Sounds a bit low budget to me…..” – Oh how wrong we were.
Well, it was low budget in financial terms. $60,000 in total ended up changing the horror genre for good.
Filmed as a fictional handheld project by three filmmakers, it was one of the first movies to ever use this style. It literally looked like a youtube video from today. For most of us going to the cinema on a friday night back in summer 1999, we weren’t sure if it was real or not for a while.
